Glow in Santa Monica

I had never heard of this event before but apparently it’s a huge yearly event in Santa Monica. It’s supposed to be some kind of “art show” but really to me it was like a rated PG rave (and I have never been to a rave.) It was pretty dope that it was right on the beach at Ocean Blvd. and there were thousands of people rolling thru. I’m rolling next year but mark my words I will be fucked up!

SM is filled with  hipsters so you know they had the curb side service!! (And if you missed the recent video of Chumlee clowning on hipsters HERE IT IS)

This was one of the only pieces that stood out to me, it was pretty ill in person! Simply put, it was 15-foot lighted poles in a Star Trek-ish shape on the beach.

Sorry for the super dark pics. It was late as fuck!

Graff From Around the Net

Here are some recent photos I found while surfing the net. All artists are LA based writers and as you can see, MSK is one of my favorite crews right now. The photo credits goes out to 12ozprophet.com. Enjoy.

"Our Youth" by Retna MSK and El Mac for RVCA

If you’ve explored LA enough, you have probably ran into one of these Retna and Mac murals around town. This video surfaced today courtesy of RVCA as part of their Artist Network Program. Check out the full process and the details involved in doing such a huge mural. If you want to check it out in person, it is located in Culver City, on La Cienega between Jefferson and Washington.

Here is some background info taken from RVCA:

“The imagery and text used in this mural was inspired by their time spent at Skid Row, while painting their previous mural. The artists met a man by the name of Ralph Woodruff aka Chato and were inspired by this man’s past hardships, experiences and overall outlook on life. His ability to recognize his mistakes and atone for his sordid past was something that resonated with RETNA. The text which reads, “So today I’m trying to change a few things to rectify the situation of my past. So today I’m looking towards the future (of our youth highlighted)” is a quote taken from their conversation.”
