Towards the end of 2010 I received a couple of e-mails to check out Jamaal, yet another young, talented rapper out of Los Angeles. I downloaded his mixtape Barely Fittin’ In: The Prelude but it got lost in the mess that is my new music to listen to folder. Fast forward to last week and I saw that Jamaal had linked up with fellow Westside up-and-comer Casey Veggies for “Currency”, an infectiously bouncy anthem for the pursuit of the almighty dollar. I made sure to listen this time, and came away impressed with the two under-20 rappers out to make a name for themselves in the crowded L.A. rap scene.
